Jovialities Entertainment "Six Degrees of J. R. Simons" Challenge
The theory has it that everyone in the world is only 6 handshakes away from everyone else in the world. John Guare's play and movie Six Degrees of Separation are both based upon this premise. Because he has worked with nearly everyone in Hollywood and because his name rhymes with "separation," Kevin Bacon has become the benchmark for connectedness in Hollywood. The "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" game is a popular culture phenomenon.
The Jovialities Entertainment Co., Ltd. believes that J. R. Simons shares the same six degrees of separation with everyone in Hollywood that Kevin Bacon does. Therefore, Jovialities has put together the "Six Degrees of J. R. Simons" Mystery Contest Page on the Jovialities website.
J. R. has the dubious distinction of having worked onstage with the famous and infamous alike before they were stars. It is through these connections that J. R. deserves to have a game named after him.
For instance, J. R. is only 3 handshakes away from Kevin Bacon himself:
J. R. Simons was Lesley Braden's High School Drama Director (1989-1993) Lesley Braden was in Dogma (1999) with Linda Fiorentino Linda Fiorentino was in Queens Logic (1991) with Kevin Bacon
So, here's the contest. It's more of a challenge, really. Jovialities challenges you to find someone in Hollywood that J. R. is more than 6 handshakes away from. Simply email a name to Jovialities with the words "6 Degrees" in the subject line along with your name and address. Don't worry, we only need your address to send you your winner's check if you stump us!
All entries will be posted here and anyone who stumps us and produces a Hollywood celebrity who cannot be linked to J. R. in 6 steps or less using Movies, TV Series and/or Made for TV Movies will win 10.00 from Jovialities Entertainment and have bragging rights for one year!
So, have fun and enjoy this challenge!

John Ritter
Recently we were all shocked to hear of the passing of John Ritter. Not only was he a wonderfully funny entertainer who should have continued to perform well into the 20s of this century, he was recognized as a wonderful human being. Not only did he come into our homes via television as a good friend, his public life was practically untouched by the private anguish and chaos that seems to surround so many Hollywood stars. Perhaps this is why his death has struck such a deep chord with us all.
Please don't request a six degrees for John Ritter, I will give it to you freely here:

Bob Hope
We also lost Bob Hope this year. With Bob's passing, the 20th Century officially ended. A great funnyman, Bob Hope was also a great humanitarian. I remember watching all his movies on a black and white TV as a child and I always knew that the PGA Tour season had started in January when the Hope was played, followed by the Crosby. Bob Hope's passing, while expected, was just as shocking as he always reminded us of our fathers and grandfathers. He will be missed. But through the miracle of film, radio and TV recording, Bob Hope will live forever.
Again, please no six degrees requests for Bob Hope. I give them to you freely here.

Johnny Cash
While I'm not a particularly big Country Music fan, I must admit that I listened to a great deal of it growing up. The country station was the "safe" station that my parents would listen to in the morning before work and school. So, I came to appreciate Johnny Cash as a tremendous performer and recording artist. Johnny Cash, perhaps more than any other C/W artist of his time, mainstreamed country music through his recordings and television programming. It was a sad shame that diabetes and his neural disorder took from him the one thing that made him an amazing man, the ability to make music. Anyone who doesn't tear up watching his video for "Hurt" is probably already dead themselves.
Here now, free of charge, is J. R.'s link to Johnny Cash:
